APSACS organizes educational intervention programme

NAHARLAGUN, Nov 14: The Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) on Monday organized a daylong educational intervention programme for students on Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) at the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya here.
Youth Affairs assistant director cum AEP nodal officer, Koj Tara who attended the programme as resource person in his address informed that AEP, which was launched by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2005 is being implemented in states and Union Territories through State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs) with support of State AIDS Control Societies (SACS).
“In Arunachal Pradesh, the ASPSACS in collaboration with directorate of secondary education will cover 50 secondary and higher secondary schools of two the priority districts of Papum Pare and Lower Subansiri as per annual activity plan for this financial year,” Tara added.
Explaining the objectives of the programme in detail, he said that AEP is an educational intervention focusing on critical elements that would enable young people to deal effectively with the issues related to growing up healthy, including issues related to reproductive and sexual health, prevention of sexually transmitted disease, drug abuse etc.
Tara further urged students to maintain discipline in their life and develop skills to equip themselves to meet the challenges of life.
