Diabetes  screening camp held

TAWANG, Nov 14: More than 200 people benefited from free diabetes screening camp setup at the New Market here by Tawang district hospital, as along with the rest of globe, the state of Arunachal Pradesh also on Tuesday celebrated World Diabetes Day in a suitable manner.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, EAC Lobsang Tsetan 
lauded the efforts of the health department and reiterated on how performing physical activity on regular basis may help prevent diabetes. Various outreach activities were also organized at the Community Health Centers (CHC) in Jang and Lumla while a painting competition on ‘Non Communicable Diseases’ was conducted at Khandro Dawa Sangmo Nursing School to mark the day.
At Yupia: With the theme “Women and Diabetes Our right to a Healthy Future,” the district NCD cell of Papum Pare also on Tuesday observed World Diabetes Day 2017 with an outreach screening camp at the Balijan CHC.
A total of 210 persons were screened during the camp out of which 39 were found to be obese, 25 overweight, 14 suspected with diabetes and 40 with hypertension.
Simultaneously a convergent awareness campaign on National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP), National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD  etc was also conducted on the day through IEC and audio visuals. Meanwhile, World Diabetes Day was also celebrated in several other places of the state including Seppa in the East Kameng district.
