Khonsa ZPM killed in car accident

ITANAGAR, Feb 23: Khonsa Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) Lengang Lowang was killed in a fatal car accident that occurred at 6 kilo here on the wee hours of Friday.
Lowang, also the chief of Lapnan village was driving his SUV bearing registration AR-02-5037 when his car fell down into a deep gorge. The impact of the fall was such that it left him dead on the spot.
Lowang’s body was taken to his native village later in the day after completion of medical formalities at Tomo Riba Memorial Hospital, Naharlagun.
“Apart from being known to carry out his normal Panchayat duties dedicatedly, Lowang was also acknowledged for his gentle and calm attitude. He was a true custodian of the Nocte indigenous culture and his untimely demise has shocked the entire Nocte community in particular and the Tirap district as a whole,” an official press release said on Friday evening.
Adviser to chief minister Wanglin Lowangdong, Agriculture minister Wangki Lowang, Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh, 55-Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin, Tirap DC P N Thungon, ZPC Sontung Bangsia and various public leaders of the district have mourned the sad and untimely demise of the ZPM.
“Tirap has lost one of the youngest and energetic leaders and his demise is an irreparable loss for the society,” read the joint condolence message from the public leaders and well wishers.
Late Lowang is survived by his mother, wife and younger sister.
