Meeting on water crisis

NAHARLAGUN, Jul 11: Concerned over the increasing water crisis in Capital Complex, parliamentary secretary for PWD and urban development, Techi Kaso, on Tuesday convened a meeting with the officials of the PHE and water supply department here.

The officials of the PHE during the meeting informed that two sources of water supply for Itanagar which comes from the Senki water treatment plant and a water source at Poma village has been damaged at various points. It was also informed that the main water supply line from Borum has been completely destroyed by landslides and flash floods, which in turn is causing water crisis in Naharlagun and Itanagar.

The officials, however, informed that the department is trying its best to restore the damages at the earliest.

After being apprised on the situation, Kaso also directed the PHED to deploy 8 tankers for Naharlagun and 1 tanker for Nirjuli and this would be pressed into service form Thursday next.

He at the same time also appealed the people of the twin cities have patience over the mater.
