Photo collection of Guv’s events released

ITANAGAR, May 12: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday released a photographic collection of Arunachal Pradesh Governor PB Acharya’s programmes and events from January 28 to May 6 at the Raj Bhavan. The collection is titled ‘Towards the Vision of New India’.

Releasing the book, the chief minister said Acharya has been associated with the state since the 1960s and his contribution in the last 100 days has been significant. He appreciated the governor for recommending an autonomous welfare board for the Puroik community while asserting the need to do away with obsolete rules that come in the way of welfare of the underprivileged.

Khandu wished Acharya would continue as the regular governor.

Thanking Khandu for releasing the pictorial book, the governor said educated and empowered people must help the disadvantaged sections of the society. “We need change of mindset and utilisation of dormant energies of students, ex-servicemen, homemakers, scouts and guides,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin said Acharya has upheld the dignity of office while Secretary to Governor Vinod P Kavle outlined Acharya’s 100 days. Bapir Megu, Under Secretary to Governor, said the book was a testimony of his love for the tribal people.

First Lady Kavita Acharya, Assembly Speaker TN Thongdok, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, state ministers, senior officers and state BJP President Tapir Gao attended the function.
