| Updated: August 29, 2017

ITANAGAR, Aug 28:  Newly appointed Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB), chairman, Jalley Sonam on Monday sought support from all the members and officials of the board so as to make sure that it functions smoothly and for the welfare of the workers community.
Addressing an interactive meeting which was attended by trade union leaders of 14 different organizations of state here, Sonam called upon the union leaders to work sincerely and with dignity.
The board was established to serve the workers community of the state and so shall it do from now on. As I coming from that same community I understand the needs and requirement of the workers, said Sonam who added that there are lots of beneficiary items which need to be distributed and the same would be done on consultation with the trade union leaders.
Many awareness programmes need to be conducted and in different parts of the state and many issues raised by the workers and trade union have to be sorted. All this would be done systematically, the chairman announced.
Earlier, repressing resentment over the alleged non transparent methods practiced by the previous chairman and officials, the trade union leaders demanded that a coordination committee meeting should be held before the board carries out any important proposal or schemes in future.
The leaders, who also raised many questions of fund mismanagement during the last two years, further demanded a high level enquiry to be initiated against the same.
Sonam, however, said that his predecessor was not to be blamed as there was every possibility that he could be misguided by some.
Previously there was a lot of blame game being played in APB&OCWWB’s name, however that trend has to end now and we have to bring back its lost glory, said the new chairman.
Sonam further asserted that he will leave no stone unturned for the development and smooth functioning of the board.
