Stress on infrastructure improvement in schools

PASIGHAT, May 30: Away from home, children spend their maximum time in schools where the right infrastructure helps create a favourable environment for a child’s growth, ADC (Headquarters) Tatdo Borang said while inaugurating the entrance gate and parking place inside the Balek Secondary School here.

The inauguration was in presence of Headmaster Kalom Ering, ZPC Kaling Dai, Ex-minister Bosiram Siram, DDSE J Yirang, President ATA (ES) Tabung Ering, Anchal Chairperson Oni Tamuk, teachers, SMC members, GBs and villagers.

Later in a coordination meeting, Borang appreciated the efforts of Dai and further said children are sent to school considering the fact that there is an experienced hand to guide them and also a safe environment promoting growth.

“Getting proper education is very necessary to get success and happy life just like food is necessary for healthy body and better life. It promotes the feeling of physical, mental and social wellbeing by providing better life,” the ADC said, stressing on plantation and beautification.

Earlier, Dai said that the first purpose of getting good education is being good citizen and then being successful in personal and professional life. Schools should create an environment that not only assures learning, but also pays special attention to the mental and physical well-being of the students.

“Studies and researches conducted to figure out the effect of infrastructure suggest that students in schools with poor infrastructure can have lower achievement scores as compared to the ones studying in schools that have better infrastructure and facilities,” Dai added.

He said that the entrance gate and parking place were essential and constructed under ZPM grants for Rs 5 lakh for one of the oldest schools in the State, established in 1946.

According to Yirang, education plays a great role in the life of everyone all through the life. “We are incomplete without a good education because education makes us right thinker and correct decision maker. Good education is constructive in nature which constructs our future forever. It helps a person to improve his or her status of mind, body and spirit. It provides us lots of confidence by giving us bulk of knowledge in many field and the single and vital way to the success as well as personal growth. Teachers must deliver their best services and students should be disciplined, punctual, hardworking and attentive in studies to be proven as worthy citizen of the nation,” he said.

Among others, ATA President Tabung Ering and Tayom Dai also spoke on the occasion.
