Arunachal inks MoU with EdCIL to start smart classes

ITANAGAR, Mar 11: In a welcome move, the department of education has entered into an agreement with EdCIL India Limited, New Delhi for starting smart classes in schools of the state  from 2017-18 onwards.

The agreement was on Saturday signed among three parties namely EdCIL India Limited, the department of education and department of Information Technology.

The said scheme will be taken up under chief minister’s “Adhunik Shiksha Yojana” for which a sum of Rs 30 crore has been ear marked for financial year 2017-18.

During the first phase ie year 2017-18, the project is proposed to be implemented in all 100 higher secondary schools and 182 secondary schools in state. Further, the project will also be taken up in selected 153 middle schools and 202 primary schools covering entire Arunachal Pradesh. The remaining middle and primary schools will be covered in phase wise manner during 2018-19 and 2019-20.

 2 numbers of ‘K-yan’ projectors will be provided to each school. In fact, few a deputy commissioners have taken personal initiative at their levels and are using the technology in some schools in their districts. The government’s effort is to implement the same in mission mode project the entire state in phase wise manner.

In the second/third phases of the program, schools located in the interior areas will be covered where they will also be provided with solar battery backup facility.

Where EdCIL is a PSU of the Central government under the Ministry of Human Resource Department, they use ‘k-yan’ projector with inbuilt study materials in animated forms for teaching and supplementing conventional class room teachings.

The ‘K-yan’ projector has many features, which the teachers can use to modernized teaching technology in the class rooms. The instrument is portable and can be easily carried to different classes. No dark room is required for using the projector. Further, no separate screen or speakers are required. It has inbuilt speaker and the same can be projected in white wall of class rooms. It has also touch screen effect and can be used for writing over the contents of the projector. Furthermore, the same can be learned by teachers having basic knowledge of computer or smart mobile set.

When implemented, technicians of EdCIL will visit all the district headquarters and impart trainings to teachers.
