Arunachal inks MoU with Vivekananda Trust

ITANAGAR, Mar 07: In yet another accomplishment for East Kameng district in particular and the state as a whole, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishment of a new R K Mission Residential School at Lumdung under East Kameng was signed between the state government and Vivekananda Trust here at the elementary education director’s conference hall on Tuesday.

While the state government was represented by Education Minister Honchun Ngandam, Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development Mama Natung and Education Secretary Bidol Tayeng, the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission assistant general secretary Swami Bodhasarananda was present for the Vivekananda trust.

Honchun in his short deliberation after signing the MoU said, “The establishment of a new RK Mission School at Lumdung will not only impart quality education to the upcoming generation but will also generate various talented students who will ultimately represent the state in near future.”

“It is only through education that the society will witness superior and healthy changes,” he added appreciating the initiatives of Chief Minister Pema Khandu,Natung and former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki for their efforts in establishment the school in the district.

Expressing concern on questions put forward by education secretary Tayeng to Swami Bodhasarananda on why students belonging from poor families usually do not get through the entrance tests, are there any provision for poor students etc, Honchun further urged the Swami to look into the matters and try to devise better methods/provisions for poor students, so that more students belong from poorer families could be selected.

To this, Swami Bodhasarananda while informing that a lottery system like that in Manipur can be adopted for poor students assured that they shall try to invent better methods of imparting knowledge and improve the morale of students.

“The object of the ideal system of education will not merely be the advancement of theoretical knowledge but also the advancement of life with the development of highest powers and capacities,” said Swami adding that as soon as the official procedure is complete construction of school will be initiated.

He also added that the Ramakrishna Mission would later on open a vocational and health centre for to service the local people of East Kameng.

Meanwhile, Tayeng in his speech informed that to support the endeavour of the mission, the state government would be providing corpus fund to the lessee (authority of RK Mission) and would also constitute a school management team that will monitor the school on regularly basis.
