Community awareness programme

 ITANAGAR, Jul 11: The Capital Complex district disaster management authority (DDMA) in collaboration with 12th Bn E-Coy of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Tuesday organized a community awareness programme on the basic do’s and don’ts of disaster management at the North East Institute of Nursing here.

DC, Prince Dhawan, who also attended the programme, appealed the denizens of the Capital Complex to remain alert and take precautionary measures in view of the monsoon season. Terming everyone as a stakeholder, he requested all to take utilization of community awareness programmes and pass on the message to others.   

Highlighting the objective of the programme, DDMO Moromi Sonam informed that the awareness camp would give basic information on how to prepare and react during disasters.

She, on the occasion, also highlighted the working of the Emergency Operating Centre and informed about the 24 hrs toll free helpline number ‘1077’ issued by the DDMA.

The NDRF team led by inspector Rana Kumar gave a brief demonstration on the basic techniques of rescue during disaster while his team displayed several techniques for rescuing people in distress. DIPRO
