SEPPA, Apr 22: A disturbing incident unfolded at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Monday, where a woman arrived with her elder child, crying profusely.

The woman, belonging to the Puroik community, shared that a woman from another community had abducted her 9-year-old daughter two days prior.

Despite her efforts, she had been unable to retrieve her child from the abductor.

DC Sachin Rana promptly addressed the case and alerted the team comprising DRDA project director Ashok Tajo, CDPO, Seppa police station officer-in-charge and other members.

They immediately went to the house where the victim was being held. The child was found locked in a dark, dingy room without access to food or water.

The team broke open the door and rescued the child, who was later handed over to the East Kameng Child Welfare Committee for further action in accordance with the law.

DC Rana has further appealed to all citizens of East Kameng to condemn such inhuman and illegal practices.
