East Siang community leaders' training held

PASIGHAT, Mar 04: The East Siang district Education department on Monday organised a daylong training for community leaders at Shikshak Sadan here.

The training for gram panchayat members and gram panchayat chairpersons of Bogong-I and II, and Bosing I and II under Pasighat block was a part of the ISSE flagship programme for media and community mobilisation. It aimed to strengthen the functioning of schools and school developmental plans to create a conducive learning environment involving civil society.

The training covered all provisions of the RTE Act and strengthened the legal provisions of POCSO-2012 (Amended 2019) for the protection and prevention of sexual abuse, sexual harassment or molestation of minors in schools and society.

DIET principal Tapang Taki made a presentation on the roles and responsibilities of gram panchayat members and gram panchayat chairperson in supporting school education and achieving the goals of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, which is now known as ISSE.

Earlier, programme coordinator Okom Panyang highlighted the aims and objectives of the training programme.

East Siang DDSE Odhuk Tabing, JN College assistant professor Dr Danggen Daming, PMC councillor Oyin Gao, among others attended the programme.
