Guv for human approach in cremation ground establishment

ITANAGAR, Mar 14: Governor P B Acharya has emphasized for a comprehensive and holistic provision for observing the last rites of deceased.

“For this, a proper environment in all respect must be created in and around the cremation area,” the governor said on Tuesday after visiting the lone cremation ground for Capital Complex at Karsingsa, near here, reports PRO.

Interacting with local MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary Techi Kaso along with members of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC), the Governor said that it is high time there must be a collective humane approach in building the very important public asset of the Capital Complex area.

Referring to an instance of the demise of a gardener of Raj Bhavan recently, the Governor said that people come to the state and render their valuable services but after their demise, unfortunately their mortal remains are taken to neighbouring state for cremation, covering long distances and incurring huge amount money, time and energy to the next to the kin during their hour of grief.

While giving his observation on the proposed developing area, Acharya suggested that different zones may be earmarked for different communities so that communal belief and practices are respected. 

IMC chief councillor Kipa Kaku, deputy chief councillor Tarh Nachung and chief municipal executive officer Habung Lampung were also present on the occasion, the report added.

Meanwhile, the governor and his wife on Monday celebrated Holi with differently abled children and Jail inmates here.

The governor and his wife visited the Donyi-Polo Mission School for the hearing and visually impaired, Chimpu and District Jail, Jullang and shared the festive occasion with the children and inmates. They distributed sweets, specially prepared in Raj Bhavan for them.

The Governor exhorted the students of DPMSHVI, Chimpu to instil confidence and self-belief. You are second to none. Prepare yourself for the future and contribute towards the peace and progress of the State and country, he said.

Joining the inmates in praying for harmony and development of the state, the Governor advised them to have positive approach in life and move forward.

Earlier in the morning, the first couple offered prayers in the temples of the Capital City.

Later in the day, the duo also observed the festival of colours with Raj Bhavan staffs and officials attached to Raj Bhavan.

Local MLA Techi Kasso and Ward No-18 councilor Gora Lotak joined them in the celebration, another report added.
