Kalikho Pul memorial indoor club to be activated soon

TEZU, May 30: To activate the Kalikho Pul Memorial Indoor Club (KPMIC) which was recently inaugurated, Art and Culture Minister, Dr Mohesh Chai on Wednesday presided over a meeting with the HoDs, administrative officers and public leaders of the area here.

Also present in the meeting were, EAC Duyu Ribya and SP Dr D W Thongon.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Chai stressed on proper functioning of the indoor club and stressed that it should serve the basic purpose for which it has been built.

“No other activity should be allowed in this building,” he said.

The KPMIC constructed in memory of former chief minister Kalikho Pul was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu during his visit to Tezu on May 15 last. It has the capacity of two indoor badminton courts with separate washrooms for men and women.

The club once activated would prove to be a platform to young aspiring games and sports enthusiasts, especially shuttlers of the area, officers and public alike who are health and fitness conscious.

The meeting further decided that a committee will be selected under the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship of deputy commissioner and SP Lohit district respectively to overlook the overall functioning of the indoor club.

A nominal membership fee would be charged per head to use the facilities of the club.
