KHONSA, Mar 28: A day-long meeting-cum-training programme on proper implementation of the schemes under 2nd instalment under Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) was on March 22 last organized by the Panchayat Raj (PR) department at the community hall here.
The meeting was attended by ZPC Sontung Bangsia, ZPMs, DPDO, member secretaries, ASCs/ASMs, GPCs/GPMs and other PR staff.
While welcoming the members present DPDO T Aran emphasized on strict adherence of the laid down guidelines while implementing schemes and stressed on strengthening of Gram Sabha for proper execution and monitoring of schemes.
ZPC Bangsia in her deliberation spoke about the need for all PRI leaders to work unitedly for development of all villages. She on the occasion expressed her deep sense gratitude to chief minister Pema Khandu for his proactive steps to empower the PR department.
The ZPC, however, expressed deep regret over the exclusion of 31 segment of Tirap out of 56 GP segments from the PMAY scheme due to the last socio-economic census.
Such exclusion, she lamented would deprive the poor public of Tirap district who are already reeling under acute poverty and slow pace of development due to various other reasons.

Meanwhile, living up to its motto of “Friends of the Hill People,” the Khonsa battalion under the aegis of DAO division under its Civic Action Programme on March 25 last donated sports items to the Poakkoam English School under Borduria village here.
Borduria is one of the remotest villages in Tirap district. DIPRO
