KHONSA, Mar 09: As a part of Operation Samaritan- 2016-17, a national integration tour for the children of Tirap district was on Thursday flagged off by DC Ravi Jha in presence of 117 mountain brigade commander Brigadier Sanjay Ghosh from Likhapani here.
The aim of the tour is to acquaint the children of far- flung areas with the vast and rich cultural heritage of the country.
Altogether 24 children and 3 teachers from 10 government schools of the district are participating in the tour which will visit various places of historic importance in Delhi from March 11 to 15, Agra from 16 to 17 and Lucknow from 18 to 20 next.
The students will also interact with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju, and Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army Gen Bipin Rawat during their stay in Delhi.
The event will go a long way in not only widening the intellectual horizon of the young minds but also further solidify the spirit of National Integration.
Among others present in the flag off ceremony were SP J K Meena, officials of civil administration, parents of participating children and locals of Likhapani. DIPRO
