ITANAGAR, Dec 18: Taking into consideration the decision of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to re-conduct the Prelims examination following controversies regarding anomalies detected in many of the question papers of the optional subjects in the recently held combined exam, the Peoples’ Party of Arunachal (PPA) on Monday suggested the Commission to go for modifications in the exam pattern
In a memorandum to the Commission’s chairman, the party asked him to immediately adopt the much coveted Union Public Service Commission pattern of conducting the civil services exam in the state in all its stages of conducting the exam.
The party in the memorandum suggested the APPSC that it should begin by doing away with the outdated system of conducting the preliminary exams where the candidates appear with different optional subjects.
“Instead the UPSC pattern of a civil services aptitude test and a general studies paper mandatory for all the candidates irrespective of their different academic backgrounds should be introduced from the next exam which will create a uniform level playing field for all the candidates and will eliminate all the chances of the complains being made with the present outdated system of some of the subjects being tougher or easier than the others papers,” the party said.
“This change is most essential to give a fresh image to the APPSC,” the PPA observed.
The party also suggested for an immediate action against the agencies that were entrusted with the task of preparing the question papers.
“Appropriate action should also be initiated against all those who were responsible in entrusting the task to such agencies that has been found to be totally ‘incompetent and non-professionals’,” the party added.
Crisis haunt the APPSC after the preliminary exam conducted recently ran into controversy with aspirants accusing the commission of providing erroneous question papers and setting questions from a Pakistan-based website.
The candidates even staged dharna in front of the Commission’s office demanding re-conduct of the Prelims exam.
