Training on gender budgeting underway

NAHARLAGUN, May 30: A three-day training on “Gender Budgeting” under 100 percent course fee sponsorship of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development commenced at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) here on Wednesday.

The training, being held in two batches, one from state level and another from district administration saw a large number of Senior Level Officers of various departments participate in it.

Addressing the officers in the inaugural session, ATI director Pate Marik said that the objective of this training is to sensitize and to familiarize the officers on gender equalities and inequality while formulation government policies and programmes with special reference to preparing ‘gender bias free budget and one having an inclusive approach”.

Efforts should be made to give equal opportunity of benefits to all sections of society including the third gender (Transgender) by all government departments and policy making authorities, Marik said while adding that the same is always ignored while formulating policies and preparing budgets.

Nani Khambo, assistant ATI director-cum-course coordinator while highlighting the course content, appealed to the officers to take full benefit of the programme.

Also to speak on the occasion was assistant director Bamin Tarang who wished the trainees success.
