She gave stress on proper pictography and also highlighted the importance of folktales as ethnic recognition of each tribe and expressed her desire to develop such materials for classes VI-VIII covering all major tribes of the State.

The Orchid series containing popular indigenous tales of the State’s tribes would be familiar, age-appropriate and in every day context of the children. The series prepared as a supplementary reader is to be introduced in the form of reading corners targeting the children of classes III-V, on the pattern of Orchid series developed and introduced earlier for the children of classes I and II across the State’s primary schools, Singh said.

The folktales included in the series will also help the children catch up with their imagination, perception and conception in their daily life,” Pingkap said.
