Status of SBM (G) projects reviewed

ITANAGAR, Apr 27: The State-level review of the components of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) for the 2017-18 fiscal was held at State Water Testing Laboratory, MOB-II here on Friday. All SEs, EEs, AEs, JEs, Zilla Swachh Bharat Preraks and consultants were present.

The meeting began with a short presentation on overall activities of SBM (G) by Toko Jyoti, Mission Director of SBM (G). He lauded the commendable work and effort made by the field functionaries for attaining the State open defecation-free.

The executive engineers of respective divisions made a presentation on component-wise physical and financial achievement for 2017-18, updated position of ODF verification, status of geo- tagging, action plan for 2018-19, and innovative proposal for sustainability of ODF status, etc.

PHE&WS Minister Bamang Felix, who was on an official tour to his constituency, joined the meeting midway after returning from Palin. He appraised team PHED for achieving this feat and stressed on the importance of sustainability of ODF status. He accentuated the need to continue with the same zeal and enthusiasm on the ‘Water to All’ programme to be completed by 2021, a year ahead of the national target. He emphasised the need to take responsibility to convert this movement as “jan andolaan” and change the mindset of the people.

The preraks working in the districts shared their experiences and ideas towards sustainability of ODF and Solid Liquid and Waste Management (SLWM).

Amongst others, the review meeting was attended by S. Yomcha, designated Mission Director of SBM (G) who briefly appreciated team PHED for achieving impossible tasks within a short period of time. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Tenzin Metoh, State Consultant.
