Recruit JEs through APPSC: Khandu

ITANAGAR, Jul 04: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has directed all the departments to strictly adhere by the Cabinet decision to entrust the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) with the responsibility of recruiting all junior engineers for ensuring transparent and fair recruitment process.

The Cabinet had some time ago observed that in order to bring in transformational change in governance and significantly improve work ethics, work culture and service delivery system in all the departments, the recruitment process needs to be free from nepotism and favouritism.

“The past practice of direct recruitment by the departments has invited a lot of criticisms from all quarters. It has, the Cabinet had viewed, demoralised the genuine deserving candidates and also showed the functioning of the government in poor light,” a report from the CMO said on Tuesday.

Khandu has therefore directed the departments that issued advertisements for recruitment of junior engineers to immediately cancel the process and let APPSC handle the recruitment.

He also requested the APPSC chairman to immediately issue notifications/advertisement for the vacant posts as and when the department places the requisition, the report added.
