Call to maintain Nyishi-Bodo ties

ITANAGAR, Apr 19: Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) president Toren Boro on Wednesday extended warm wishes on Nyishi Day at Nyokum Lapang Ground here and exhorted the Nyishi and Bodo communities to maintain their age-old cordial relation.
Attending the grand celebrations as chief guest, Boro said Nyishi community was the fastest advancing community in the state, having made progress in the field of education, business and various other fields. This, he said, was a matter of pride for the entire Nyishi community and state as a whole.
“We may be from different states but we are similar in many ways. Bodos have always cooperated with our Nyishi brethren and will continue to do so,” Boro said while assuring to work for promotion of cultural exchange between the two large communities to strengthen ties further.
All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) president Promod Boro who appealed members of both communities to continue sharing love with each other as they have been for long.
Appreciating Nyishi Elite Society (NES) for inviting ABSU and BSS on the auspicious day, Promod appealed to the presidents of NES and BSS to organize a ‘Nyishi and Bodo cultural festival’ in the coming winter for stronger bonding between the two communities. 
Taking advantage of the event, he also appealed to the Central government to develop Arunachal Pradesh, not just because it shares its borders
 with China but because it’s an integral part of the nation. NES president Bengia Tolum outlined the guiding principle of Nyishi Day celebrations and recalled the efforts and contributions made by various individuals of the community.
Asserting that the feeling of brotherhood 
between the Nyishis and Bodos would always remain in the days to come, Tolum called upon all to enjoy the emotional relationship the two communities share with each other.
Earlier, Tolum unveiled the foundation stone for ‘Secretariat cum Cultural Centre’ at the venue. Former chief minister Nabam Tuki, home minister Kumar Waii and PHED and Water Supply  minister Bamang Felix were among other dignitaries present on the occasion.
