RONO HILLS, Nov 07: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organized a successful blood donation camp in observance of World Infant Day, collecting 100 units of blood on Thursday.

The event, hosted by the University’s NSS and NCC Cells in collaboration with the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), saw a strong turnout from students and community members.

RGU’s NSS programme officer Dr Tage Monju Burman stated that the camp was prepared to store up to 100 units of blood, a target that was met thanks to enthusiastic participation. However, as additional volunteers arrived, some had to be turned away due to limited storage capacity.

Dr Burman expressed gratitude to the TRIHMS medical staff for their support and mentioned plans for a mega blood donation camp next year to meet the growing demand.

The event was attended by RGU vice-chancellor in-charge Prof S K Nayak and registrar Dr N T Rikam who commended the efforts of the NSS and NCC cells.

They praised the team for organizing the camp on such a significant day and highlighted the life-saving importance of blood donation, particularly for vulnerable infants and children.

NSS programme officer Dr Gomar Basar emphasized the importance of World Infant Day and the need for community support in promoting infant health, early care, and nutrition. He urged continued backing for health initiatives that benefit society.
