ITANAGAR, Sep 19: The state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday organized a fruit distribution event at the Donyi Polo School for Hearing and Visually Impaired in Chimpu near here.
The event was attended by state BJP president and Health & Family Welfare minister, Biyuram Wahge, along with MLA Techi Kaso, BJP’s Sewa Pakhwada convener Tarh Tarak, party leaders and party karyakartas.
Addressing the occasion, Wahge emphasized the importance of recognizing the unique capabilities of differently-abled students.
“Their brilliance is a gift and should not be underestimated,” he said while expressing his pleasure in being with the children.
Commending the school's management and teachers for their dedication. Wahge assured that the health department and the state government would extend support to the institution's needs.
MLA Kaso, who expressed a personal connection to the institute, encouraged attendees to assist and treat differently-abled individuals with kindness, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting such institutions.
Tarak highlighted the ongoing 16-day Sewa Pakhwada from September 17 to October 02, detailing various activities aimed at community service. He praised the staff for their heartfelt dedication to the students.
Earlier, school principal Arvinda Dey welcomed the dignitaries, acknowledging the support of both the central and state governments.
He noted the shift in terminology for persons with disabilities, from "Apang" to "Divyang," reflecting a more respectful approach.
The event featured cultural performances by the students and interacting with the students.
