ITANAGAR, Nov 07: Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta on Thursday chaired the 2024 State-Level Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) meeting at his civil secretariat office here.

Senior officials from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), including deputy director general Dhiraj Sareen and director Abhishek Koushik from the UIDAI Guwahati office, joined the meeting along with departmental heads from the state government.

The meeting was inaugurated by Economics & Statistics commissioner Ankur Garg, who provided insights into the state's Aadhaar enrolment activities and the ongoing efforts to improve Aadhaar saturation rates.

During the session, Koushik presented an update on the progress of Aadhaar enrolment and usage across the state. He outlined actions taken since the last meeting and highlighted key issues such as improving Aadhaar saturation, particularly for children aged 0-5 years.

To streamline the Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) process, Chief Secretary Gupta directed the Health & Family Welfare Department to integrate with the UIDAI system to ensure Aadhaar enrolment immediately after birth registration. He also addressed the backlog of mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5-7 years and 15-17 years, instructing the Education Department to organize special camps in schools in coordination with district administrations.

Sareen emphasized the need to accelerate enrolment for children aged 0-5 years and recommended issuing digital birth certificates through the Civil Registration System (CRS) to facilitate Aadhaar enrolment at birth. He suggested prioritizing districts with lower Aadhaar saturation rates for newborn enrolment under the BRBAE system.

Chief Secretary Gupta stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among departmental heads and UIDAI to efficiently address key challenges within the specified timeframe.
