YUPIA, Oct 03: Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE) commissioner Saugat Biswas on Thursday inaugurated a two-month free Course on Computer Concept (CCC), at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here.
The event is being organized by the SDE department of in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).
The 90-hour CCC course, aimed at 37 ITI trainees, will provide basic computer skills to prepare them for employment in IT-related sectors.
Speaking at the event, Biswas emphasized the importance of computer literacy in securing jobs.
“Government positions are increasingly scarce, and youth need to be digitally skilled to enhance their employability in both the public and private sectors. This training is being brought to the trainees' doorsteps, saving them the need to seek out computer courses elsewhere," he said.
Biswas also highlighted previous efforts by the department, including finishing courses and placement drives for ITI graduates, while stating that improving ITI infrastructure remains a priority.
The commissioner assured that steps are being taken to upgrade computer labs and bring in skilled instructors to ensure trainees receive top-quality training.
NIELIT director R K Singh provided insight into the institute’s role in skill development and capacity building for youth across the country.
He explained that the CCC training, designed at the NSQF Level 2, will be introduced across all seven ITIs in the state, with Yupia, Ziro, and Roing being the initial focus areas this year, followed by Balinong, Tabarijo, Sagalee, and Dirang.
Singh also mentioned future plans for advanced training in fields like artificial intelligence and diploma in computer science to further boost digital literacy and enhance youth employability in the private sector.
The CCC program was initiated by commissioner Biswas, who had earlier reached out to NIELIT’s director general in Delhi to provide computer training for ITI trainees in Arunachal Pradesh.
The course, valued at Rs 5,000, is being offered free of cost to eligible trainees.
