ITANAGAR, Sep 30: The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) has laid down certain norms for organizing Durga Puja and other festivals within its jurisdiction.
These guidelines, enforced under various sections of the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Act 2007 and 2019, along with provisions of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Solid Waste Management Act and Rules, 2016, and the Green Tribunal Act, aim to ensure environmental protection and compliance with pollution control measures.
According to an order issued by IMC commissioner Techi Aran, all organizers planning to set up temporary structures or pandals for the Durga Puja celebrations have been asked to obtain prior permission from his office.
“This directive is issued to avoid punitive actions during inspections by the festival monitoring committee, the order said.
