ITANAGAR, Apr 22: Kurung Kumey deputy commissioner Vishakha Yadav has been conferred the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 under the “Innovation – District” category for her flagship initiative Project DigiKaksha – A Vision for a Vibrant Village on the Indo-China Border.
The award recognises outstanding and innovative administrative efforts that are sustainable, replicable, and impactful at the grassroots level. Yadav’s initiative in one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most remote and strategically sensitive districts has been lauded for its emphasis on bridging the digital divide in high-altitude border villages.
In a letter of appreciation, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), V Srinivas, described Yadav’s efforts as “commendable” and a model of dedicated public service. A copy of the appreciation has also been sent to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh for official record inclusion.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Yadav on the achievement, stating, “Kudos to Kurung Kumey DC Vishakha Yadav on receiving the prestigious PM’s Award 2024 for her groundbreaking initiative #ProjectDigiKaksha! From the heights of the border, she’s driving a digital revolution in learning and governance. Truly a proud moment for Arunachal and the nation!”
Project DigiKaksha aims to revolutionise digital education and public service delivery in frontier villages, enhancing accessibility and national integration in difficult terrains.
The Prime Minister’s Awards are among the most prestigious recognitions in the Indian civil services, presented annually to honour exemplary work in improving governance and citizen-focused administration.
