National Statistics Day

TAWANG, Jun 29: The office of the assistant director of economics and statistics celebrated National Statistics Day here on Saturday.

Additional deputy commissioner Sang Khandu highlighted the contributions of professor PC Mahalanobis, emphasizing his development of the Mahalanobis Distance and his role in India's first Planning Commission.

He stressed the importance of accurate statistical data for developmental goals.

Tawang ADES (in-charge) Tenzin Phuntso noted the significance of the day, celebrated annually on June 29 in honour of Mahalanobis, and expressed plans for expanded future celebrations.

Senior statistical investigator Nawang Dorjee announced essay competition winners, who received cash prizes and certificates from the ADC.

The event concluded with a commitment to ensure the error-free publication of the annual Statistical Data Information Book for Tawang district.
