RONO HILLS, Nov 07: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) recently celebrated the exceptional achievements of two of its students, Joti Mane and Likha Aku, who excelled at international sports competitions.
Both are enrolled in the Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) program in RGU’s department of physical education.
Mane, a 3rd-semester student, won the silver medal in the 10 km women’s open category at the 2nd Edition of the Tawang International Marathon held on October 24, securing a cash prize of ₹50,000.
Aku, a 1st-semester student, earned a bronze medal in the female senior category (60-65 kg) at the 8th Asian Pencak Silat Championship in Uzbekistan, held from October 10-16. She triumphed after a hard-fought semifinal match against the host team from Uzbekistan.
To honor these achievements, a felicitation ceremony was held in the vice-chancellor’s chamber, where the VC in-charge Prof S K Nayak presented the athletes with accolades for their dedication and accomplishments.
The ceremony was attended by registrar Dr N T Rikam, finance officer Prof Otem Padung, finance branch consultant Kurian Thomas and Physical Education assistant director Dr A Yuvaraj.
Prof Nayak praised the students' resilience and commitment, emphasizing the university’s dedication to fostering excellence and encouraging students to pursue achievements beyond academics.
He reiterated RGU’s commitment to supporting students in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities, aiming to produce well-rounded individuals who excel on national and international platforms.
