ITANAGAR, Nov 09: The Raj Bhavan here celebrated the foundation days of several states and union territories on Saturday, marking the occasion with festivities as part of the state’s tradition of honoring other states’ anniversaries.
The event commemorated the foundation days of Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu, alongside the union territories of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.
Governor KT Parnaik, who led the celebrations, extended his best wishes to participants and conveyed a message of goodwill from the people of Arunachal.
He emphasized that the celebration aligns with the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to foster unity, integration, and mutual respect across states.
The governor expressed hope that such gatherings would encourage those serving in Arunachal to appreciate local customs and traditions, fostering lasting memories. Highlighting Arunachal’s progress in infrastructure, health, education, and tourism, he acknowledged the contributions of people from other states and union territories in the state’s development journey toward a “Viksit Bharat.”
The programme featured vibrant cultural performances, including ‘Thiruvathira’ and ‘Bharatnatyam’ by a Malayali troupe and ‘Bhangra’ by a Punjabi troupe, celebrating the diversity of India.
Attendees included large numbers from the celebrated states and union territories, with students and instructors from Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired as special guests.
Governor Parnaik and his wife, Anagha, engaged with participants over high tea, where attendees shared their experiences and expressed gratitude for the governor’s hospitality.
Participants also conveyed appreciation to the people of Arunachal for their continued commitment to unity and brotherhood.
