ITANAGAR, Sep 30: In celebration of Wildlife Week, Early Bird and Ataavi Bird Foundation have announced a series of bird walks across six Indian cities on October 6 and 8, 2024. The initiative aims to deepen children's understanding of bird species and their habitats, targeting those aged 10 to 13.
The walks, led by experienced nature educators, will go beyond mere identification, fostering a holistic appreciation for birds through hands-on exploration. Participants will engage with nature and learn about bird behaviour and habitats in an interactive setting.
In Kolkata, the event is set for Banabitan Salt Lake City, while New Delhi will host it at the Aravalli Biodiversity Park. Mumbai enthusiasts can join at the Bhandup Pumping Station, and Mysuru participants are invited to Kukkarahalli Tank.
The Shergaon walk will occur at Shergao Creek, with Gobuk hosting the event at the Gobuk Pettang Trail in Siang Valley on October 8.
Each walk will commence at 7 am, and registrations are now open. Supported by partner organizations including the Birdwatchers' Society, SPROUTS, and GreenHub X Royal Enfield, the event aims to inspire young participants to appreciate India's rich avian diversity and contribute to wildlife conservation efforts.
