AHARLAGUN, Oct 03: The Naharlagun Police on Wednesday arrested three individuals, including a police personnel, for their alleged involvement in organizing illegal online gambling at the B-Sector area here.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Prince Mirel (42), Santosh Prasad (44) and Toko Tapin (49) who is a policeman with the 1st Arunachal Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn), Chimpu.
During the operation, police seized gaming equipment from the suspects and sealed the premises where the illegal activities were taking place.
A case has been registered under Sections 3 and 4 of the Arunachal Pradesh Gambling (Prohibition) Act, 2012 has been registered against the trio at the Naharlagun police sation.
This arrest marks the seventh case registered in 2024 under the Gambling (Prohibition) Act, with a total of 33 individuals, including eight women, apprehended for their involvement in illegal gambling activities this year.
“The Naharlagun Police is committed to combating illegal activities and I urge the public to report any suspicious behaviours to help maintain law and order in the community,” SP Mihin Gambo said.
