PASIGHAT, Apr 29: Several parents and children with special needs on Monday participated in a one-day autism awareness-cum-parental training and interactive programme held at the Spring Centre for Child Development in Diking village near here.

The program, led by Dr Oimang Megu, founder and chairperson of the Spring Centre, commenced with a welcoming group dance by the center's children.

It was followed by an informative session conducted by occupational therapist Joji Verghese, who discussed autism, its symptoms, assessment, and the various therapies required.

The Spring Centre for Child Development is dedicated to children with special needs, offering services such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, behavioural therapy, and special education.

Currently, children from East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Siang, Lower Siang, and Lower Dibang Valley are benefitting from the center's programs.

After the formal sessions, parents had the opportunity to ask questions, which were addressed by the occupational therapist.
