Congress manifesto for LS polls misleading: BJP

ITANAGAR, Apr 25: The state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday described the Congress' manifesto for the 18th Lok Sabha elections as "misleading and concocted".

Addressing media persons at the party headquarters here, BJP spokesperson Techi Necha said the document, titled "Nyay Patra", depicts "ANYAY" (injustice) to the nation.

The BJP also condemned the Indian National Congress' manifesto, claiming it exposes the party's hidden agendas.

The "Nyay Patra", unveiled by Congress national president Mallikarjun Karge on April 5, promises to abolish the Citizenship Amendment Act, restore Triple Talaq, reserve positions for Muslims, support Love Jihad, allow Burqas in schools, end majoritarianism, ban bulldozer action.

It also aims to increase Muslim judges in the judiciary, introduce a Communal Violence Bill to stop mob lynching, legalize beef consumption, offer separate loan interest rates for Muslims, and allow acts of treason.

Necha accused the Congress of pursuing an appeasement policy since the 1960s to win elections, calling the manifesto a collection of "white lies".

The state BJP has meanwhile also urged the state chief electoral officer to take action against East Kameng deputy superintendent of police, Mibom Ering, for alleged drunken behavior and threats directed at BJP's official candidate, Doba Lamnio, during re-polling at the 40-Sario polling station under the 8th Bameng (ST) Assembly Constituency.

The party also alleged that IRBN personnel stripped and physically assaulted a supporter of the BJP candidate, confiscating cash and food expenses.

Calling for accountability, the party further urged the Congress leaders to reconsider their manifesto promises, emphasizing the need to protect the interests and demographic stability of Arunachal.
