GU workshop explores Nadi Vigyan for holistic health

RONO HILLS, May 08: The Rajiv Gandhi University’s department of physical education and sports sciences on Wednesday organised a one-day workshop on Nadi Vigyan, in line with the NEP 2020's focus on mental well-being and to celebrate the International Day of Yoga.

The workshop aimed to understand the techniques and physiology of Nadi Vigyan for holistic health and to raise awareness about the body's Prakriti, encompassing Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Dr Laxmi Narayan Joshi, HoD of Yogic Science at Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar, served as the resource person who elucidated the science and physiology of Nadi Vigyan, highlighting the correlation between the mind, disease, and human body's well-being.

Dr Joshi enlightened participants about the concept of body types (Prakriti) and how understanding one's body type enables a healthy mind and body, affecting food preferences. Additionally, he demonstrated techniques for identifying proper body alignment and applied Merm therapy to alleviate body pain.

RGU vice-chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha in his address emphasized on Indian philosophy and traditional literature's relevance to health and well-being, noting how western scientists benefit from Indian literature and ideology.

Prof Kushwaha proposed collaborative learning opportunities for RGU students with Sanskrit University, Haridwar.

RGU registrar in-charge Dr Vijay Raje highlighted the significance of Yogic sciences for youth's mental well-being and holistic development.

He urged participants to engage regularly in physical and Yogic activities for better health and professional growth.

The workshop attracted 120 participants from various departments, who gained insights into the science of Nadi Vigyan and pain management.
