ITANAGAR, Apr 26: Amidst heavy rainfall, fresh repolling was successfully conducted on April 24 in eight polling stations across the state, with a robust voter turnout.

The repolling was necessitated by discrepancies noted in the initial polling at certain Assembly constituencies during the polls held on April 19. The Election Commission had scheduled the fresh poll date for April 24 from 6 am to 2 pm, according to an official release.

Under the watchful eye of security forces, the fresh polls were conducted in stations including Sario, Longte-Loth, and others within the East Kameng, Kurung Kumey, Upper Subansiri, and Siang districts.

Director-General of Police Anand Mohan and police nodal officer Chukhu Apa played key roles in overseeing stringent security measures. The deployment included armed security and central forces, ensuring the smooth execution of the process.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the fresh polls concluded with a commendable voter turnout, recording a substantial 79.50 percent across the newly polled stations. The state witnessed an overall turnout of 77.7 percent, with the assembly constituency topping at 82.95 percent.

Following polling, election materials were securely transported to the receiving centers. The scrutiny of all documents was completed in the presence of election officials and party agents, maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

The Election Commission extended its gratitude to the dedicated polling teams and security personnel for their unwavering commitment to facilitating a free, fair, and peaceful election process.
