Legal awareness training

ITANAGAR, May 10: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) on Thursday organized a daylong legal awareness training for 130 students of Arunachal Law Academy (ALA) at the Golden Jubilee Banquet Hall here.

Present during the programme were APSLSA member secretary Budi Habung, Law and Judicial deputy secretary Dani Belo, ALA principal Dr G George and advocates come legal aid counsels Topi Jini, Jumgam Jini and Nani Modi.

The training which commenced with the screening of a documentary by National Legal Services Authority of India (NALSA) was followed by the speech of Habung who spoke on the role and responsibilities of the state/district authorities in facilitating access to justice to the people in need.

Also to speak was Dani Belo who highlighted the role of legal services authority in terms of providing legal assistance to victims of disaster, rights of transgender and Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011.

During the daylong programme, the students were also educated on Juvenile Justice (Children’s Care and Protection) Act, 2015 and POCSO, Act, 2012 by Legal Aid Counsel, Nani Modi while the Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 was elaborated by advocate Topi Jini.

The programme ended with a valedictory function wherein all the participating students were given certificates.
