ITANAGAR, Apr 24: Governor KT Parnaik on Wednesday greeted the people of the state particularly members of the Puroik and Tangsa community on the festive occasions of Gumkum Gumpa and Moh-Mol respectively.

In his Gumkum Gumpa message, the governor said the celebration will continue to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood amongst the members of the community and also other tribes of the state.

Stating that Puroik community holds significant importance among the tribes of the state, Parnaik said owing to traditional customs, development initiatives reached this community belatedly.

“I earnestly hope that my Puroik brethren will proactively pursue education and prioritize health, as well as access the benefits offered by government programs,” he said.

“May this festival of reunion promote harmony and reinforce stronger bonds in the Puroik community in general and all the people of our beautiful state,” Parnaik wished.

In a separate message, the governor expressed hope the Moh-Mol festival of the Tangsa community of Changlang district will usher in peace, communal harmony and prosperity for all.

Moh-Mol is basically an agricultural related festival, which signifies the end of an agricultural activity or beginning of crop season. Since time immemorial, the Tangsa community has faithfully upheld these ancient traditions, celebrating this festival with immense joy and customary fervour.

“It is my hope that this admirable tradition endures in the future, safeguarding the rich cultural legacy of both the state and the Tangsa people,” the governor said while offering prayers for bumper harvest, wealth and for longevity of the Nong culture.
