NAHARLAGUN, Jul 29: The Pipu Gyawepurang Social Organisation (PGSO) on Saturday felicitated meritorious students of class X, XII, BA and achievers in sports and other fields from Pipu and Gyawepurang circles under East Kameng district.
The felicitation programme was held at a city hotel.
Speaking on the occasion, PGSO Chairman Raya Flago said that dreams cannot be fulfilled unless they are combined with effort and hard work.
He advised the students to imbibe values of education, behavioural science and hard work while pursuing education which is the only medium through which one could dream of a better future.
Emphasising the importance of education, he called upon the students to study hard as one can establish one’s identity through education.
“Being educated, you can contribute in development of Pipu and Gyawepurang circles in particular and East Kameng district as a whole,” he said.
Highlighting the main objective of PGSO – socio-economic development – Flago said that the two circles are lagging behind due to poor road connectivity and water supply despite having been established long ago.
He announced scholarship from PGSO for students of the two circles while pointing out backwardness of the areas prevent many brilliant students from pursuing higher studies.
The students felicitated during the programme were Karan Rigam, Dadung Cheda, Sarda Cheda, Pongmak Cheda, Ruju Jilly and Kojam Dada of Class X (2016-2017 session); Sunita Tabri and Bukhe Lamgu of Class XII (Humanities); and Rima Rigam and Longmi Gyadi of Class XII (Science).
The achievers in the entrance tests were Riba Gyadi (MTech), Tado Gyadi (MTech), and Amnila Gyadi (MBA).
The students felicitated in the graduate category were Tachung Lochung, Ralung Doka, Julai Dangni and Yaming Lamgu (BA honours).
Nickey Tabri was felicitated for securing first position in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
In the sports category, Yami Gyadi (for winning gold medal in Karate), Jakap Flago (gold medal in Karate) and Mamoni Taniang (silver in Table Tennis).

In the excellence category, Flago was felicitated for achieving golden silver in government service and filmmaker, Chopa Cheda, for producing films like “Mwngkar” and ‘Kharabter’.
Moviemaker Shambo Flago and actor of the film Mwngkar, Pankaj Flago, were also felicitated for their achievements.
