PASIGHAT, Apr 16: Tight security arrangements have been made in East Siang district for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections scheduled to be held on April 19.

Security forces have been deployed for traffic management and search operations in various parts of all three constituencies, including the border areas, to prevent any illegal activities during the polls.

East Siang superintendent of police Dr Sachin Kumar Singhal said that with the elections approaching, the defense forces under his supervision are on alert to maintain law and order and address traffic issues arising from the heavy influx of people into the city.

He highlighted a slew of measures undertaken to ensure an incident-free and fair polling process for the upcoming elections.

Singhal emphasized that police officers and defense personnel have been briefed on their roles and responsibilities in ensuring free and fair elections.

"We are fully prepared to ensure safety and instil confidence ahead of the simultaneous elections in the district," Singhal said, adding that a vigilant watch is being kept on the border areas.

The SP also stated that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will be implemented strictly, with police officers aiding eligible voters to exercise their rights on polling day. Singhal warned that there will be a complete ban on election campaigning after 5 pm on April 17, and strict action will be taken against violators.

Meanwhile, following the fourth and final randomization process, held at the DC's conference hall, election general observer Dilip Routray on Tuesday visited the Media Cell constituted by the East Siang district election officer.

Routray emphasized the mandatory requirement for all to take prior approval from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for posting poll-related advertisements in print media, electronic media, or on social media platforms.

"The MCMC plays a crucial role in the electoral process and must keep a close watch on election-related posts on all platforms," Routray said.

He commended the hard work of the East Siang Media Cell for necessary and wide publicity related to the upcoming elections.
