GO reviews poll preparedness

YUPIA, Apr 15: General Observer Amit Dhaka on Monday conducted a thorough review of the election management at the deputy commissioner’s office here.

Dhaka emphasized the critical nature of the last 72 hours prior to poll day, which includes the final day of the campaign period, the non-campaign period (last 48 hours), and the poll period. He urged the nodal officers to remain vigilant and informed about the various activities and directives issued by the Election Commission during this crucial period.

The meeting was attended by nodal officers responsible for transport, EVM, law and order, and webcasting, along with returning officers Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, Higio Yame and the SPs of Yupia, Itanagar and Naharlagun.

Papum Pare district election officer Jiken Bomjen provided a briefing on the poll preparedness in the district. He highlighted that the polling is scheduled to commence at 7:00 am on April 19 and conclude at 5:00 pm on the same day.

A total of 150 polling stations, including 72 under the 13-Itanagar Assembly Segment, 42 under the 14-Doimukh Assembly Constituency, and 36 under the 15-Sagalee Assembly Segment, will be operational on April 19th. All necessary manpower, force deployment, and logistical arrangements have been made at these polling stations.

Polling stations at the DFO Social Forestry office building and the 45-KV school building NERIST have been designated as all-women managed polling stations, and the 16-NEEPCO has been marked as a model polling station.

Bomjen urged all voters to cast their votes on April 19th. Besides the EPIC card, valid proof of identity during voting day will include AADHAAR card, PAN Card, Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card, Service ID Card, Passbook with a photo by Bank/Post Office, Health Insurance Smart Card (M/o Labour), Driving License (DL), Passport, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Pension document, Official ID card issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs, and MNREGA job card.

He also stressed the importance of ethical voting, being an informed voter, and avoiding corrupt practices like the money culture.
