Pasighat Women PS gets legal aid clinic

PASIGHAT, Apr 15: A legal aid clinic was inaugurated at women police station at Pasighat in East Siang district on Sunday.

The clinic, which will provide free legal services, is an initiative of the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.

East Siang district legal services authority chairman and also district and sessions judge, Tageng Padoh inaugurated the clinic in presence of East Siang superintendent of police Sachin Singhal, chief judicial magistrate Tenzin Metho, Pasighat police station OC Ige Lollen, women police station OC Ojum Riba, and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Padoh emphasised the significance and functions of the legal aid clinic and paralegal volunteer (PLV) in bridging the gap between legal service institutions and general public as PLV serves as grassroots workers, ensuring that individual seeking legal assistance have access to free legal aid through the nearest legal service institutions.

The newly set up clinic will cater to the legal needs of the people and will be manned by a dedicated PLV who will assist the legal aid seekers, who approach the clinic.

IEC materials like pamphlets on NALSA mandated schemes, programmes and government welfare schemes were also distributed on the occasion.
