ITANAGAR, April 17: With the approaching assembly and Lok Sabha elections on April 19, polling teams in Arunachal Pradesh are being swiftly deployed to their designated stations. In Papum Pare and Upper Siang districts, meticulous arrangements are ensuring that all teams reach their remote stations well in advance of polling day.

In Yupia, the District Election Officer (DEO) Jiken Bomjen oversaw the departure of polling teams for Habia under Sangdupota circle in the Doimukh assembly constituency and Kullung under Mengio circle in the Sagalee assembly constituency. The send-off ceremony took place at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium.

Bomjen encouraged the officials to ensure accurate documentation and wished them success in conducting the polls.

Papum Pare district is preparing for a busy election day with 103,989 voters expected to cast their votes across 150 polling stations. Bomjen has called on all residents to exercise their democratic rights enthusiastically.

Simultaneously, the district election office in Yingkiong dispatched polling parties and sector officers to three of the district’s most remote polling stations—Peki Modi, Mossing, and Palling (P-2). The teams, equipped with EVMs, VVPATs, and necessary polling materials, embarked on their journey amid challenging weather conditions. These preparations followed thorough checks of all equipment at the dispersal centre near the DC Office in Yingkiong, ensuring transparency and readiness.

Upper Siang has set up 69 polling stations to accommodate its 25,381 eligible voters, with polling teams reporting safe arrivals despite the arduous conditions.

These initiatives underscore the commitment of local election bodies to uphold electoral integrity and facilitate smooth voting processes across the region. Both districts are taking extensive measures to ensure that all voters have secure and accessible polling experiences, reflecting the robust democratic spirit of Arunachal Pradesh.
