RGU students explore Gujarat's growth, culture

RONO HILLS, Apr 16: The Yuva Sangam Phase IV initiative, aimed at exposing Arunachal Pradesh's youth to Gujarat's growth, development, tourism, and culture, concluded at the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) at Surat, Gujrat recently.

The 47-member delegation from Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) visited various sites in Gujarat from April 8 to 12 and reached Itanagar on April 15 after a successful tour.

During the valedictory ceremony, SVNIT’s dean of students’ welfare, Dr Sanjay R Patel, maintained in his address that more such initiatives are needed to bring diverse people of the country together and stand united.

SVNIT registrar, Dr Pramod Mathur, appreciated the efforts of various ministries of the Government of India for executing such initiatives to bring youths of different cultures together and for choosing SVNIT Surat to be paired with RGU from Arunachal.

RGU joint registrar Dr David Pertin who escorted the team, extended his appreciation to SVNIT and the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, for their warm reception and hospitality.

He also expressed gratitude to the ministries of culture, tourism, DoNER, sports and youth affairs, railways, home affairs and the Arunachal government among others for their unwavering support and commitment to promoting tourism and cultural exchange.

On behalf of Team Arunachal, he thanked SVNIT Surat for engaging five faculty members to escort the team, which included tours of the institute’s campus and its important units depicting technology growth and ongoing research, a visit to Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. known for its diamond polishing and exports from Surat to overseas, a short interaction with its owners, a visit to Dumas beach and Surat Fort in Surat.

The RGU team also visited the Amul Dairy in Anand, Dandi Kutir, Space Applications Centre (SAC) in Ahmedabad, River Front and Atal Bridge in Ahmedabad and Ekta Nagar for the Statue of Unity at Kedavi village.

Visits to textile units, food plazas, temples such as Akshardham Temple, Ahmedabad, and Neelkanth Dham Narmada temple in Poicha were also a part of the tour.

In recognition of their participation, the participants and escorts from Arunachal were presented with appreciation certificates by the DSW and the registrar of the SVNIT.

On the return journey, the team also visited the India Gate in New Delhi and experienced the metro train ride.
