SUMAA submits memo

TAP | Updated: February 23, 2018

PASIGHAT, Feb 23: The Students’ United Movement of All Arunachal-East Siang District (SUMAA-ESD) in a representation to the PWD executive engineer (Pasighat division) on Friday has called upon the latter to send out instructions to the contractors to re-construct the road between Yagrung Kangkong Gate to Remi Bridge here.
The said stretch of road falls in the Pasighat-Ledum-Tene highway.
Alleging that the road has not been built properly and low quality work has been maintained, the organization claimed that the road has started wearing off within a month causing immense trouble to the commuters.
The worst sufferers are the local commuters as the said road is the lifeline of the people living in Yagrung, Bilat and Korang villages. The road connects the people of these rural areas to the district headquarters and they have to use it in a daily basis for medical
and official purposes, the SUMAA-ESD said in its letter.
The organization has further served an ultimatum of ten days and threatened to launch a democratic movement if the case is not looked into.
Meanwhile, the SUMAA-Kamle District (SUMAA-KD) also on Friday submitted representation the Upper Subansiri DC in matters related to the recent rape of a minor by a 23-year-old in Daporijo.
While expressing anguish over the fact that the people took law in their own hands, the union at the same time has appealed the people not communalize the case and let law take its own course of action.
