Time for anti-tribal Left up: Khandu in Tripura BJP rally

ITANAGAR, Aug 09: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday attended the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ST Morcha Rally in Agartala as chief guest.
Agartala, the capital of Tripura is almost 775 km from here. It is also the second largest city in the North East after Guwahati.
Despite heavy downpour, a huge crowd gathered to listen to Khandu, who of late has been donning the mantle of BJP’s main campaigner in the region.
Thousands of tribal youths and women wearing their traditional attire took part in the rally and gave slogans such as ‘communist-free Tripura’.
With assembly elections fast approaching, the Janajati Morcha (ST Morcha) organised the rally on occasion of World Indigenous Day. The day also marks the Quit India Movement in 1942.
Speaking on the occasion, Khandu said that BJP provides performing, transparent and accountable government to all. “It is for these principles and ideologies of the BJP that the party has dominance in most states in the country,” he said.
“People are sick of corruption, red-tape and nepotism prevalent in previous governments. They want a clean and accountable government which they have found in BJP,” Khandu said.
Referring to Arunachal Pradesh, Khandu said that since BJP came to power, the first and foremost thing the government did was to bring in reforms through digital mission. All measures are being taken to strengthen governance by maintaining transparency, accountability and efficiency, he said.
Stating that government servants in Arunachal Pradesh have been given 7th Pay Commission awards and other perks, Khandu said it was surprising that Tripura government employees are stuck the 4th Pay Commission.
“BJP is a disciplined party which has started a crusade against corruption. Every BJP-ruled state is focusing more on good governance and result oriented development of the state and the country. Every CM has to give a report card of the developmental and welfare activities undertaken in his state to the prime minister and the national party president,” Khandu said.
The chief minister appealed to the people of Tripura to join hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP to make India free from corruption and ensure ‘acche din’ for common people.
Khandu claimed that reports on sufferings of the tribal community in Tripura have
ashamed for the rest of the region when the Modi-led NDA government has been spending crores of rupees for development of backward classes and on employment of the youths.
He said the previous Congress government did not do anything meaningful for the North East despite Manmohan Singh being the prime minister and elected from the region.
“We the people of North East realised Modi’s vision and as a result, people in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur chose to form BJP governments, which has brought a visible change in development graph in a short time,” Khandu stated.
He was optimistic about the BJP coming to power in Tripura because of anti-tribal policies of the communist government depriving many of proper healthcare facility, pure drinking water and sustainable sources of income.
“Nobody bothers whether the chief minister walks on the streets or uses expensive cars or stays in a hut or a multi-storied building, people want employment and best opportunities of livelihood, education, healthcare, communication and most modern facilities; BJP can assure the overall governance and service in Tripura once it come to power in the next election,” he said.
BJP Tripura state president Biplab Kumar Deb termed the rally as beginning of the movement for ‘communist-free Tripura’.
This was the first time a mainstream party has held such a huge rally for Tripura’s indigenous people. (CMMC)
