Guv reviews CSS schemes in Tawang

TAWANG, Mar 16: Governor Brig (Dr) B D Mishra on Friday interacted with the district heads of department (HoDs) here and reviewed the Central and state government sponsored developmental programmes and projects being implemented in the district.

The governor said that the government officials are pillars of development. He exhorted them to put in their best effort to ensure that the last person on the last rung of the society benefits from the welfare schemes and programmes.

“A target has to be set and people have to be motivated and take steps for progress,” he added.

The governor emphasized that the HoDs must ensure transparency, accountability, continuity, audit and review and wherever required, mid course correction in implementation of development schemes and programmes.

“Priority must be given to education and healthcare. The HoDs must see that every child has an opportunity to develop the full potential and excel in life and the officials must go an extra mile to improve the female literacy rate,” Mishra said.

Informing them of the vacancies in Indian Army for youths of the state, the governor asked them to motivate the youngsters to join the armed forces.

A home-grown soldier will be the best sentinel, doubling the safety and security of the State and the nation, he said.  

The governor, while advising for free and fair police personnel recruitment for effective delivery system, stressed on providing proper accommodation facilities to the policemen and ensure ideal policing.

Tawang deputy commissioner Sang Phuntsok briefed the overall developmental scenario of the district.

Earlier in the day, the governor met the representatives of various security forces and agencies stationed in the district. He advised them that to be alert, watchful and proactive and to instill sense of security amongst the people for peace and progress of the state.

Mishra also emphasized on continuing the excellent Civil Military relationship, which happily in now in place.

Visit to Manjushree Vidhyapith:

Governor Mishra and First Lady Neelam Misra on Friday also visited the Manjushree Vidhyapith (Orphanage School) here.

The first couple who were very impressed by the school, its students and the founder Lama Thupten Phuntsok, Padma Shree Awardee, while interacting with the students, advised them to avail the educational opportunity given to them so as to lead the nation.

The governor also advised the students to join Sainik Schools and serve the nation by joining the Indian Army.

Mishra lauded the efforts of Lama Phuntsok, the officials and staff of Manjushree Vidhyapith and said that it is the best human service and as a token of appreciation, he donated a sum of Rs 1 lakh rupees towards the school.

Earlier in the day, the governor and the first lady visited the Khinmey Monastery and Late Dorjee Khandu Memorial Museum.

A personal history monument of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister late Dorjee Khandu, the museum adores the memory pictures of the 6th as also of the 14th Dalai Lama and features an arena that depicts his journey into exile in India in March, 1959.

The couple later also visited the Textile, Handloom and Handicrafts Emporium. They took keen interest in the exhibition of items, in visited various sections including wood crafts masks, weaving, paper making and thanka painting etc. They emphasised the promotion of indigenous handlooms and handicrafts products amongst the youth.
