Indian army capable of keeping Chinese at bay: Guv

BHADOHI, Apr 16: Governor BD Mishra on Monday said Chinese troops often come near to the Indian Territory but our Army has the capability to meet any challenge, a news agency ANI reported. Talking to a news agency, Mishra said that our Army will never let Chinese troops enter the Indian border.

"As per the reports that come from the border, Chinese troops come near Indian Territory and retreat when challenged by Indian troops. This has always been their (Chinese) tactics. I can say it with surety that Indian troops are so capable that the Chinese cannot enter our territory even by an inch," Governor Mishra reporters here.

Last year, troops of India and China were locked in a 73-day-long standoff in Doklam since June 16 after the Indian side stopped construction of a road in the disputed area by the Chinese Army. Bhutan and China have a dispute over Doklam. The face-off had ended on August 28.

The trouble started when India sent troops to stop China building a road in the Doklam area, which is remote, uninhabited territory claimed by both China and Bhutan. India said it sent its troops because Chinese military activity was posing a threat to the security of its own northeast region.

Earlier, Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also said that India is ready for any unforeseen situation in Doklam and will maintain its territorial integrity. We are alert and constantly working on the modernization of our forces.
