Man arrested on charges of attempted murder, rape

PASIGHAT, Mar 26: A man has been arrested on charges of attempt to murder and rape from Pangin in Siang district, police said.

The East Siang unit of the Arunachal Pradesh police arrested one Tabang Taboh of Kaying in Siang district, who was wanted in connection with an attempt to murder and rape case, East Siang Superintendent of Police Dr SK Singhal said.

A case was registered against Taboh at women police station, Pasighat under Section 341/325/307/376/506 of the Indian Penal Code.

After a night long search, the accused, who was intentionally evading arrest and heading towards Siang was nabbed by women police station officer in-charge Ojum Riba, the SP said.

A team of Siang police led by deputy SP S Tenzin, sub inspector M Rambo successfully intercepted the accused at Pangin, who was on the run after committing the offence, Dr Singhal added.
